What is the difference between Oat Protein and Whey Protein?
Oat Soluble Fiber is a is a unique source of dietary fiber as well as a more "valuable" fiber than other fibers because it contains beta-glucans. Beta-glucans are a dietary fiber that help to maintain healthy cholesterol levels, blood glucose levels, and are connected with better gut health. Like the Oat Protein, this fiber is taken from oats that are grown exclusively on Swedish farms.
Oat Insoluble Fiber is extremely unique in that it is one of only a handful of fibers that are mostly insoluble, meaning, it does not dissolve. Therefore it passes through the digestive tract without being broken down. There is no fermentation in the gut and therefore it does not count as a source of calories. However, it DOES count as a source of fiber and the FDA recognizes these facts as such. This makes Oat Fiber an ideal ingredient to add to all of our products for the added fiber with NO additional calories. Experts recommend as much as 2/3 of our total daily fiber intake come from insoluble fiber.
100% Pure Maple Syrup from Vermont is our preferred nutritive sweetener of choice. We use it in some but not all of our flavors because just
1 teaspoon per serving
of REAL and PURE Maple Syrup authentically compliments both our oatmeal and oat protein with its robust taste while keeping the calories and sugars low. While Maple Syrup is technically a sugar, studies have shown that the antioxidant and flavonoid profile of Maple Syrup actually counteract any negative effects of the sugar.
Fruit + Protein + Oats are a power-trio and a perfect kick-start to your day. Diced pieces of real dried Fruit adds a natural sweetness and authentic taste and texture to our products.
Stevia and Monk Fruit are high-intensity natural sweeteners with zero calories.
We use one or the other or both, depending on the flavor, because each provide a different type of sweetness. Since stevia leaf extract and monk fruit extract are both high-intensity sweeteners, only extremely small quantities of each are required to provide sweetness similar to sugar.
Depending on the flavor, our Oatmeal flavors use Pea Protein with Avocado Oil. The amino acid profile of Pea Protein compliments the protein naturally found in rolled oats; making the total protein per serving more efficient. It's kind of like eating rice and beans together is better than eating rice or beans alone, because their amino acid profiles compliment each other and make a more complete protein. Same goes for pea protein and oat protein. A touch of Avocado Oil adds worthy taste and creaminess. Avocado Oil is a famouously heathy oil known for its monounsaturated fats, Vitamin E, and neutral taste profile. Oatmeal flavors that use these two ingredients are 100% plant-based.
Milk Protein is an excellent source of protein that we add to select flavors of our oatmeal because of its 100% complete amino acid profile and high percentage of protein per calorie. Milk Protein comes from dairy milk and it is a combination of whey and casein proteins as it is found in its natural state. Since Milk Protein is cow-based, we include a dose of Bovine Collagen. The amino acids from Bovine Collagen add even more value to the already complete amino acid profile naturally present in Milk Protein. With these 2 proteins combined, you get a complete solution for muscle maintenance and bone, joint, skin and hair maintenance added to your oatmeal. A dollop of Dairy Cream rounds off this all milk-based comination with better, creamier taste.
Erythritol is a natural sweetener that looks and tastes like sugar, yet has almost no calories. Erythritol is found naturally in a variety of fruits such as grapes, melons, pears and even mushrooms. We use this ingredient to help us lower the calories per serving of all of our products without sacrificing taste. Erythritol is produced through a natural process of fermentation. A number of foods have gone through a fermentation stage on their road to deliciousness. Examples of fermented foods are bread, yogurt, cheese, wine, and soy sauce. Erythritol is used as a bulking agent to balance the high intensity sweetness of the stevia and/or monk fruit that we use. Erythritol has not been found to affect blood sugar or insulin levels and has a zero glycemic index. Our Erythritol is Non-GMO.
Like pepper, salt or any other spice that would be used to heighten the taste of food, natural flavors are used to bring out the best in our products.
